04/01/10 (From Coach William McGuigan) TO Celtic (U12 Boys, Coach McGuigan) had a great run at the very scenic Carpenteira Beach Cup and made it to the final. On the way to the final the boys scored 20 goals over 3 games. The highlight was the semi-final win over Ventura Vipers (POG U12 Champions) where all the boys played to the very best of their abilities. The coaches (McGuigan and Groenveld) always had faith they had this capability and it was great to see it happen. In the final Celtic lost to Real Santa Barbara but fought hard for the full 60 minutes. Click Here for a picture of the boys before getting their trophy.

03/22/10 (From Coach John Benedict) The Thousand Oaks Pot ‘O Gold Soccer Tournament is one of the tournaments I most look forward to each year.  First, it’s our home field tournament and there is nothing like home as they say.  Second, teams from all over Ventura County, Santa Barbara County and the greater Los Angeles County come out to Thousand Oaks to enjoy the experience of great soccer.  And third, well cause it’s another weekend of soccer of course and a chance for our players to excel!  This weekend brought the Spring weather full throttle.  Both Saturday and Sunday matches were warm days with a touch of humidity in the air on Sunday or should I say humility……

The GU14 Most Wanted played 4 great games of soccer.  First game was against Camarillo, but we managed to hold them off and win the game 1-0.  Our second match was against Woodland Hills and we continued to play nice soccer and won that game as well 4-0 for our second shut-out victory.  Sunday’s first match pitted us against a tuff Valencia team.  They were big and aggressive.  Even though our team suffered some injuries, we limped to a 2-0 win for our 3 shut-out of the Tournament.  Our next game was not until 3:00pm, so with a 4 hour break, some of the girls drifted back home to rest up and some stayed on the fields to enjoy the Spring Day.  Our next game would be for the Championship against Santa Barbara. Unfortunately, Santa Barbara came out with all pistons running and we did not.  I think some of the girls went home and went nappy and never woke up.  They attacked us on the left side moving through our midfield like it was Swiss cheese.  As our defender attacked the drive the defense was sluggish in the transition and long outside low kick found its way past Kristen for the 1-0 lead.  Oh my!  You could see the shock on our faces, or was that just a yawn?  Most Wanted made a valiant effort in the remaining minutes with 6 shots on the S.B. net, but each found the Keeper and she was good.  S.B took that goal into the half for 1-0 lead.  After an inspiring pick me up talk by coach, the girls were sent out to reclaim their match.   But it wasn’t to be so…..a call in the box put a Santa Barbara player at the penalty mark and a well placed ball into the left corner behind our outstretching Keeper sent Santa Barbara ahead 2-0.  It was devastating.  Geez!  The topper came minutes later on a corner kick that found an unmarked player on the far post.  She simply tapped it in for the 3-0 lead. And that was it….We only managed 3 shots on Santa Barbara’s nets in the 2nd Half and that wasn’t going to do it.  Santa Barbara had prevailed this time.

T.O. Most Wanted played a tremendous Tournament but as they say, “Ya win some and ya lose some.”  We walked away with 2nd place and memories of a terrific team effort.  It was a fun tournament and I am very proud of each and every one of our players.  They played their hearts out.

2/22/2010  (from Coach John Karta).  The T.O. Fire All Star team, U10B, had a very successful run at the Riverside Locomotion tournament Feb. 13-15.  After winning our pool, we were the 3rd seed and had to play a tough Beverly Hills team (#2 seed).  With only a few minutes left in that game, down 3-1, the boys scored two quick goals to send the game into overtime.  In the second overtime period, we scored one more to win the game.  In the championship match, we faced the same Torrance team from our pool that we tied in the first game against them.  A tough battle from start to finish, the boys came up short losing 3-2 in an epic battle, finishing 2nd overall.  The heart these kids displayed all weekend was amazing and I couldn’t be prouder of the way they played and represented Region 9 and the city Thousand Oaks.  Congrats TO Fire!!!

2/16/2010  (from Coach Karun Kapur).  The T.O. Thunder, U12G, coached by Karun Kapur, Jade Molina, and Carlos De Los Rios finished 3rd in this weekend's Locomotion Tournament in Riverside.  The girls played a great weekend of soccer outscoring the opponents 31 - 5 over a total of 6 games !  We narrowly lost to a Hacienda Heights team 1 - 2 in the last 5 minutes in the semi-finals medal round and then beat a strong Palisades team 4 - 1 to claim the 3rd place finish.

2/08/2010  (from Coach John Benedict) We are the Champions!  We are the Champions!  Yay! Yay! Yay!

Sorry, I couldn’t help myself J.  T.O. Most Wanted (GU14 A Team) played 3 weekends of incredible soccer to be crowned the GU14 Area 10E Champions!  We were undefeated in the tournament, with a record of 8 wins, 0 losses, and 3 ties.  We also had 5 shut out victories.  I can’t begin to tell you how proud I am of this team and their character.  This teams character defines the way they play the beautiful game of soccer.  We strived to prepare ourselves to the best of our abilities.  Every training session, every game, every moment out on the pitch is just another opportunity for the team to define themselves through desire, dedication, determination and self-discipline.  So on to Bakersfield in March and the Section 10 All-Star Playoffs to proudly represent Region 9 and Area 10E.  The team’s next stop…Riverside Locomotion

12/7/2009 (from Coach John Benedict) – Gobble Gobble Gobble…..What am I thankful for…..more soccer of course!

The U14G A Team officially opened their season by playing in Region 42’s Newbury Park Panther Shootout.  With our bellies still full from Thanksgiving turkey we made our way to the Peppertree Fields.  I want to thank everyone that came out over the Thanksgiving Holidays to support the teamConsidering the short preparation time we had a very successful outing.  On Saturday morning we played Pacific Palisades and won 4-1. Saturday afternoon was Agoura and we won 5-1.  Sunday morning we faced the host team, Newbury Park and won 3-0.  On to the Championship against Malibu!  After regulation and two overtimes it was still 0-0.  So on to PKs we went.  Malibu ended up bettering us by one PK and won the Championship.  But what a great showing by our girls!  I remember looking over at our side line during the first overtime against Malibu and there seemed to be at least 100 people watching the game.

I am so very proud of our girls and their determination, dedication, and abilities.  And it’s just the beginning!
